Chad Schapiro: Pay The Price
1. Leaders get tested at each stage of growth.
2. The leaders goal is to pass these tests as fast as possible.
3. The testing will always come before the leader gets to advance.
4 The advance is getting to a higher level of effectiveness. Each higher level will take sacrifice but it is nothing compared to what is gained.
As we go through these "tests" we are like a weight lifter that loses the fat and gains the muscle with each painful step forward. Through these steps we lose the old self, the self that condemns, questions, and carries a low self-esteem. And we become the glorious, confident, incredible person we were meant to be.
Chad Schapiro: Everyone is a leader
There are different types of leaders. The first 4 are not recommended but the last one is where it's at:
1. Reluctant Leader. They think they are not the leader and don't really want to be. It's tough for this person because without thinking about it they are missing the point that they are already leading others. Hopefully they will realize that this is part of life and be open to doing the best they can.
2. Tyrant Leader. A task master of sorts. They demand respect. When not respected they will lash out at you and expect people to shut up and do it.
3. Whining leader. They will lead but don't do it with any optimism and excitement. They are grumbling along the way and making it more difficult on everyone.
4. Micro-managing leader. Every little detail has got to go through them. This slows them down and the growth of their people.
5. Empowering leader!!! This leader loves to help all those involved. They work diligently with those that follow allowing them to go make mistakes and grow as they go.
How to be an empowering leader:
1. Lead. Take responsibility and lead yourself first. We've all heard the saying lead by example. We've also heard "jack of all trades, master of none". If we aren't producing the amount we would like our followers to produce then guess what we have got to do first and foremost. That's right leader ourselves with the focus on mastering our own high levels of production and then at that point focus on other parts of the business. I have seen so many people not produce enough themselves but get bogged down on doing different things themselves (training and managing others) that take the focus off their own production.
2. Recruit others. An empowering leader will never have enough talent around them. I use to think that when I have my team in place I could just kick back. I have now learned that there will always be an opening for bigger and greater things that recruiting other quality people will fill.
3. Train. Notice the order of things. We lead ourselves first and then we were able to focus on training others. We need to model what needs to be done and walk them through as simply as possible.
4. Empower. They need to feel encouraged to go out and do things on their own.
5. Support. When they make mistakes, when they get their emotions hurt, when they struggle we need to be there to support and love them. Notice the key word "when" and not "if". It has happened to us all and it will happen to them as well.

Chad Schapiro: Failing = Learning
I have personally attended hundreds of seminars, rallies and conventions over the 13 years and have heard the stories and testimonies of people who have succeeded. It often looks easy from the audience's perspective to make a $10,000 per month check or have a $100,000 per year. I remember in my early career, seeing these people and saying to myself, "If they can do it, so can I." They are no different. That was true, except the difference between them and me was a few key points that I had to learn in the journey:
Begin with "Internal Compounding". Skills such as developing a belief, understanding how to market myself, how to be consistent, how to be self-motivated over time to create what is called "compounding". Internal compounding is going to be the difference between average and exceptional. Internal compounding really begins with you becoming comfortable with yourself, becoming the person you deserve to be, really having a belief in yourself, a sense of certainty that no matter what obstacles, what challenges, what hurdles arrive in your way, you begin to turn these roadblocks into building blocks.
Pursue Personal Growth and an Action Plan. You're going to learn a different perception of challenges and how to overcome them right now. Most important, with simple disciplines, learned, acquired and then diligently and consistently applied over a period of time, you start to release yourself from the attachment of what most people consider to be failure. Personal growth coupled with a plan of action. Diligent and consistent action to produce results not only in yourself, but with others, too. The heart of a champion is developing heart rather than just relying on your talent. You will grow your way to whatever level of success you choose.
Do not compare yourself to others. You never know the price someone has paid to get to their promised land, and they did pay it at one time or another. Even the statement, "paying the price" is unusual. A good friend and mentor once said to me, "Chad, it's not a price, it's a privilege." That is a whole different perspective. Are you really paying a price or is it a privilege to be going through the process that you are going through? Most importantly, it is imperative that you start to view your past failures differently and change how you view challenges and obstacles that face you today and in the future. Are these learning experiences the seeds of change growing you further to earn the income you truly want? Why not embrace them just as others have surely had to do in the past?
Give it a Chance . One of the most common problems I see in entrepreneurship is that people quit too soon. They give up before barely getting started and go back to what already wasn't working for them, giving up on their dreams. I have found that if you don't have dreams, you end up working for people who do. Will you ever get your promised land, producing results for someone else in their dream? Success isn't always easy, is it? And it's definitely not a sprint, it's a marathon. Most people quit in free enterprise in their first 90 days, six months or one year. This is a usual pattern; they don't stay in the game long enough to learn the survival skills required to win the game of their life. They dabble, they give it a shot, they try, they wish, they hope, they'd like to, they think about it, they take little action, get their feelings hurt, test the water and, most of all, treat it like a hobby, then it costs them enough money, so they quit and say, "It didn't work for me" or "I got burned."
OurGV is about going through mind shifts, evolutions of new personal growth, getting out of the box, off the sidelines, in the game, playing offense rather than defense, learning life skills, so that you can get paid what you are worth. It is the opportunity to win the game of life on your terms, in your time frame. Quitters never win and winners never quit. Winners learn how to fail more intelligently. Isn't it time you learned how to treat failure differently? Isn’t it time you changed how you've been changing?

Chad Schapiro: Dreams Vs. Action
If you want to see change in your life, see big results, the first thing you must do is change your current actions. Otherwise the old saying becomes a reality: "If you always do what you've always done, you'll always get what you always got!" But if we change our actions, we will see different results!
Most people want to accomplish a lot in their lives. Yet very few actually do. Why is this? It is because what they believe will equal their long-term accomplishments are wrong. Here are some of the things that people believe will create great accomplishments for them:
Beliefs
Vision
Big dreams
Ideas
Ideals
Values
Desire
The truth is that while these things are very important, they are not enough by themselves. We need to have the above as the basis for all that we do, but we need to actually do something! And this is where most people stop. We need to take action on our dreams and beliefs every day.
Here are some examples of how this works.
Who loses weight? The one who knows all about the benefits of exercise or the one who walks 3 miles a day?
Who retires early? The one who dreams of a house on the beach, or the one who invests $300 a month?
Who writes books? The one who desires to become a best-selling author, or the one who gets up early and writes for half an hour a day?
Who has the best marital relationship? The one who knows how much spending time with their spouse can improve their relationship, or the one who sits down and talks with their spouse every night?
Who makes the most sales? The one who believes they can become a great salesperson, or the one who makes 100 sales calls a day?
I think you get the point. When it all comes down to it, we must act upon our vision, beliefs, and ideals or we won't see them come to reality. I see too many people who know what is right, but don't ever do anything about it. Imagine what a difference we could make in our own lives and the lives of others if we would simply begin to act upon on our beliefs!
When I get to the end of my life, I want to know that I have done all that I can to make this world a better place and to enhance the lives of those around me. I want to know that I gave it my best shot. And I am sure that you do to.

Chad Schapiro: Value Of Discipline
There is a problem with even a little bit of neglect. Neglect starts as an infection. If you don't take care of it, it becomes a disease. And one neglect leads to another. Worst of all, when neglect starts, it diminishes our self-worth.
Once this has happened, how can you regain your self-respect? All you have to do is act now! Start with the smallest discipline that corresponds to your own philosophy. Make the commitment: "I will discipline myself to achieve my goals so that in the years ahead I can celebrate my successes."
Allow you and your team to create new disciplines. Simple things like going to the trainings, doing the goal sheets, inviting people to take a look at the site. Then make sure we all connect those seemingly small steps to the incredible beautiful disciplines they truly are. This will build our self-worth and self-confidence turning us into the true leaders we are capable of becoming!!!

Chad Schapiro: Prison can be more than just a room with bars.
We all lock ourselves up in different activities that imprison us and hold us back from our true glory. We need to continually fight for freedom. The fight is more on the inside than anything that can be seen on the outside. Let's focus on freeing ourselves!!!
1. Stay Sharp!! Make sure to be ready at all times to break out. Many of us get stuck in a rut focusing on all that we are not and the things we don't have. Meanwhile there are opportunities all around us that when we learn to stay sharp we can use to bring us to levels higher than we ever thought possible.
2. Stay Positive!! We get to decide what day we'll have. Do you want a great day or a not so great day? It is our choice and to break free from the internal prison we all have we need to stay positive in all things! Play This Be like those M & M's!! They are sooo positive they influence their environment.
3. Stay Put! Anyone looking for the easy way out is going to stay imprisoned. Making a commitment to not quit no matter what, to remain focused on what will happen when we succeed makes the prison bars fall down allowing us to be freed. Everything we are going through can only help us and help others with their battles they face. Do not be afraid of the battles but for sure be afraid of quitting. Stay put no matter what!!
4. Follow your leads!! Turn over every stone! Every single contact could lead you to another who leads you to another that may even lead you to another that creates freedom in your life forever. We need to take care of every seemingly small lead that comes our way. If we take care of the small opportunities we will notice we have some BIG ONES! Follow every non-profit lead, merchant lead, and of course every lead to a new leader that can be in your team.
5. Run through the open doors!! If it's even cracked a little bit run through there and make yourself at home. Many go too slow and then wonder why the door became closed. We need to move it!!

The key is to look for that ambition and desire. If you don't see it in that person work like crazy to find those that do have it. We are going to change the world one heart at a time. Go find the willing hearts.

Chad Schapiro: If Only....
The "if onlys" go on and on: "If only I had more time...if only I knew more non-profits...if only I were a better leader...if only my past were different, or my mother hadn't abandoned me, or my father hadn't beaten me...if only my last boss hadn't built my confidence...If only these people or this situation were different...if only they hadn't changed the format, the program, the system, or the way we used to do it."
Well, forget about it. "If only" only cultivates a negative attitude that keeps you from doing what needs to be done. What is, is! People are what they are, and they do what they do.
"But it's not fair; things shouldn't be this way or that," you might say. Maybe not. But "if only" is not a magic phrase that can make things better. In fact, it only adds to a sense of despair and helplessness. Children wish; mature adults don't wish--they act. Life is not a fairy tale. It is what it is, and reality has no mercy on those who don't get it.
"If only" thoughts and comments are the beginnings to a negative attitude. The way out is to cultivate, develop, and embrace a philosophy that is action oriented, uplifting, and cultivates a positive attitude. Know, and accept, that no problem is bigger than you are. You have what you require to put it all together. It may be true that something happened in your life that angered, inconvenienced, and hurt you. However, resenting someone or something only prevents you from extracting the lesson from that situation or event--and moving on.
Life does not stop because you had or are having an unpleasant experience. It only can be an excuse-making tool for your unwillingness to do the work required. Stop it. When you know what you have to do, do it. Not wanting to is no excuse. If you choose not to do it, don't complain about the consequences; and certainly don't offer "if only" as an excuse or a reason to change things.
If you don't know what to do, go into a discovery mode. Ask questions; search for answers; read this blog, review the website; or find your expert. Stop wishing it were different; look for answers. Get started now! No one will do for you what you must do for yourself.
Affirm that "I am going to do my best," and treat yourself well when you make some progress. At the same time, remember that you are not alone. Unless you are isolated on an island, you have your expert, the company, friends, family, and allies all around to help make things happen.
It's not over until you say it's over, and it is only too late if you never start! Clear your deck of "if onlys." They take you nowhere. They are as significant as the following statement..."If only my grandmother had wheels, she'd be a trolley car." It's meaningless. Believing that everything teeters on "if only," as if "if only" is the reason things can't be changed, prevents you from going forward and living well. I'd be great "if only they hadn't cheated me or changed things." Hey, wake up, this is it. Deal with it and go forth.

Chad Schapiro: Delayed Gratification
Here is the principle: Buy it now and struggle later. Another principle: Delay buying it now, invest the money and time, and have all you want later on! We tend to think that having it now will bring enjoyment, but unless you can do it and not cause yourself financial stress, you will actually get more from waiting!
How much delayed gratification is necessary? When you don't have to worry about it then you've delayed enough. If there is some question then odds are you have not invested enough to get the results you really want and the habits of short-term wants are pushing you to make mistakes people on their way to freedom would not make. The really models to follow are the people that have brought themselves from rags to riches, and not the lottery ticket stories but the typical success stories. How much did they invest in terms of time and money to achieve the goals that get your heart pumping? You can achieve those heights and more, just be fair to yourself and embrace delayed gratification.
Chad Schapiro: "The minute a man ceases to grow, no matter what his years, that minute he begins to be old." William James
Our lives can take on new levels of success and awareness, but even more important is the education we put into practice being the lighthouse that will lead others to safety.

Chad Schapiro: New Habits
A rocky mountain hiker once came upon a sheep stuck in a ravine. He pulled and tugged at the sheep to try to free it. Finally, with all his might, he pulled the sheep to the top. He turned his back for one moment, and, you guessed it, the sheep had fallen back into the ravine. It wasn't until he rescued the sheep again and then drove it away, that the sheep was able to go to safety.
What does this have to do with you and me? Plenty. You see, the same thing happens in our emotional and intellectual life as well. How many times have you resolved to change something in your life once and for all, only to find that, with out realizing it, you have slipped back into the same pattern again? We all get stuck in a rut sometimes. The trick is to exert enough consistent force, over a long enough period of time, to overcome our negative patterns and create lasting change. This is where goals come in.
We've all heard that it takes 21 days to change a habit. This is true because, like the sheep in the ravine, we tend to slip back into old, comfortable ways. Think about a New Years resolution that you made this year.
Keep up on your daily goals, keep accountable to everyone possible, keep forging ahead to the new you!

Chad Schapiro: A Team Of Millions
Do you want to help millions of people learn how to go from rags to riches?
Do you want to help millions of people learn how truly incredible they are?
Do you want to love and support people everywhere?
All of these ideas are great and there are so many more that we each could add to the list. I've found that there is one major key to making this not just sound good or feel good from seeing these words but to making them happen. This number one thing is to start with leading one person first. And that one person is you. We each need to focus on changing our world internally first so that the effect from those causes can take place in our outer world. Once we have our outer world changed then we can be a true story and inspiration for helping those millions.
To attract attractive people, you must be attractive. To attract powerful people, you must be powerful. To attract committed people, you must be committed. Instead of going to work on them, you go to work on yourself. If you become, you can attract.
While we are having our world changed we need to become absorbed with gathering and helping change the lives of the first few who join our team. We need to lead them by example and help support them with the same excitement and ambition as if we had a team of millions.
After leading the small team ahead we will start to notice the team growing larger and larger. Before you know it you will have the dreams above being accomplished with many that you never thought possible now being a reality.
Do not forget the part that will truly make this happen in your life!! You are the key!

Chad Schapiro: Goals for 2007
I've often said the major reason for setting a goal is for what it makes of you to accomplish it. What it makes of you will always be the far greater value than what you get. That is why goals are so powerful - they are part of the fabric that makes up our lives. And goal-setting is where we create our goals.
Goal-setting is powerful, partly because it provides focus. It shapes our dreams. It gives us the ability to hone in on the exact actions we need to perform to achieve everything we desire in life. Goals are GREAT because they cause us to stretch and grow in ways that we never have before. In order to reach our goals we must become better. We must change and grow.
Also, goals provide long-term vision in our lives. We all need lots of powerful, long-range goals to help us get past short-term obstacles. Life is designed in such a way that we look long-term and live short-term. We dream for the future and live in the present. Unfortunately, the present can produce many difficult obstacles. This makes us feel like we are taking two steps forward and one-step back, feeling frustrated. But fortunately, the more powerful our goals (because they are inspiring and believable) the more we will realize all the obstacles are minor compared to our dreams being realized. We need to be able to act on the plan now in the short-term and guarantee that these annoying distractions will get out of our way.
So, let's take a closer look at the topic of goal-setting and see how we can make it forceful as well as practical. We need to focus on marching forward no matter how slow it may seem we are going at times. Remember, we are always moving toward action, not just dreaming. If you are avoiding some of these key steps it may comfort you short-term but bring more harm than you know.
S.M.A.R.T. Goals.
S.M.A.R.T. means Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, and Time-sensitive.I really like this acronym S.M.A.R.T., because we want to be smart when we set our goals. We want to intelligently decide what our goals will be so that we can actually accomplish them. We want to set the goals that our heart conceives, our minds believe and that our bodies will carry out. Let's take a closer look at each of the components of S.M.A.R.T. goals:
Specific: Goals are no place to wishy washy. They are no place to be vague. Ambiguous goals produce ambiguous results. Incomplete goals produce incomplete futures.
Measurable: Always set goals that are measurable. I would say "specifically measurable" to take into account our principle of being specific as well.
Attainable: One of the detrimental things that many people do - and they do it with good intentions - is to set goals that are so high they are unattainable. Make sure that you believe you can hit these short-term goals and then you can move forward gradually as they are achieved.
Realistic: The root word of realistic is "real." A goal has to be something that we can reasonably make "real" or a "reality" in our lives. There are some goals that simply are not realistic. You have to be able to say, even if it is a tremendously stretching goal, that yes, indeed, it is entirely realistic -- that you could make it. You may even have to say that it will take x, y, and z to do it, but if those happen, then it can be done. This is in no way to say it shouldn't be a big goal, but it must be realistic.
Time: Every goal should have a time frame attached to it. I think that life itself is much more productive if there is a time frame connected to it. Could you imagine how much procrastination there would be on earth if people never died? We would never get "around to it." We could always put it off. One of the powerful aspects of a great goal is that it has an end, a time in which you are shooting to accomplish it. You start working on it because you know there is an end. As time goes by you work on it because you don't want to get behind. As it approaches, you work diligently because you want to meet the deadline. You may even have to break down a big goal into different parts of measurement and time frames. That is okay. Set smaller goals and work them out in their own time. A S.M.A.R.T. goal has a timeline.
Next, a big one! Accountability (A contract with yourself or someone else). When someone knows what your goals are, they hold you accountable by asking you to "give an account" of where you are in the process of achieving that goal. Accountability puts some strength into the process. If a goal is set and only one person knows it, does it really have any power? Many times, no. At the very least, it isn't as powerful as if you have one or more other people who can hold you accountable to your goal.
