Chad Schapiro: Delayed Gratification

Oh man what a key to success!! I know so many people that have slowed themselves down or brought their business to a halt because they wanted certain things now with their money or their time that had not been earned yet. Successful people have developed the habit of delayed gratification.

Here is the principle: Buy it now and struggle later. Another principle: Delay buying it now, invest the money and time, and have all you want later on! We tend to think that having it now will bring enjoyment, but unless you can do it and not cause yourself financial stress, you will actually get more from waiting!

How much delayed gratification is necessary? When you don't have to worry about it then you've delayed enough. If there is some question then odds are you have not invested enough to get the results you really want and the habits of short-term wants are pushing you to make mistakes people on their way to freedom would not make. The really models to follow are the people that have brought themselves from rags to riches, and not the lottery ticket stories but the typical success stories. How much did they invest in terms of time and money to achieve the goals that get your heart pumping? You can achieve those heights and more, just be fair to yourself and embrace delayed gratification.

Great Point Especially in the Beginning of the Year. We have 12 months to focus toward. Thank you for the reminder. We have come along way and should be happy now. MarkMDC
